Signs You Need to Replace Your Fence
Your fence acts as a barrier between you and the rest of the world. No matter what size your fence is or what purpose you have for it, you need to make sure that your fence is in good repair. Depending on the type of fence you have, there may be some maintenance required. You may also have an occasional need for repairs, yet sometimes you may need to replace your fence entirely. Here are some signs that you need to replace your fence.
Broken and Damaged Boards
Accidents do happen, and sometimes you will get a damaged or broken board that needs to be replaced. Yet wood fences do not last indefinitely, and normal wear from weather and use, as well as age, can cause boards to deteriorate and become damaged and broken. If you have several boards in this condition, it is a sign that the fence has aged and you need to replace your fence.
Leaning or Sagging Fence
If your fence is leaning or sagging, it could be a sign that the fence posts need to be replaced. If it is just one small section that is sagging or leaning, replacing that fence post alone may be sufficient. Yet if the fence is leaning or sagging in several areas, it is a sign that your fence is past its prime and needs to be replaced.
Insect Damage
There are several signs that you need to watch for that could be indicators of insect damage and infestation. Termites and other insects can get into the wood and eat it away. If this is happening to your fence, you will notice holes, gnawing, or boring in the wood. Once insects have worked over a fence to this extent it really cannot be salvaged.
