Best Fence for Your Home
If you’ve decided it’s time to add a fence onto your property, you may be puzzling over which type of fence will provide the best exterior design while also providing adequate security. If you live in a neighborhood with strict Home Owner’s Association rules, the choice may already be made for you. If you can select any type of fence you’d like, you have many options open for your consideration to find the best fence for you!
Aluminum. Aluminum is basic, attractive, and low-maintenance. However, it’s not as strong as other fence materials and isn’t recommended for areas at risk of severe weather. Aluminum also isn’t the best in terms of security. While it certainly provides property separation and an inherent level of privacy, it isn’t the right choice if security is your top priority.
Wood. This is by far the most popular type of fencing across our country because it lends a comfortable sense of privacy and aesthetics. Nothing says “Welcome home!” quite like a gorgeous white wooden fence. Better yet, they’re easier on the budget than other materials and can last the lifetime of your home. The exact quality of a wooden fence hinges on the quality of the wood.
PVC. By far the most economical type of fence, PVC is often used in place of wooden stakes and pickets. It’s not nearly as sturdy as wood, but it effectively serves its purpose as a boundary without breaking the bank. PVC is also rain and sun resistant, so it can last for years out in the elements.
Wrought Iron. Wrought iron is known for its intricate designs and sophisticated appearance. Its beauty comes with the price of regularly schedule upkeep, and sanding and painting is needed every two years for ideal appearance. Wrought iron is also a more expensive option because the fences tend to be custom-made.
There’s bound to be a type of fence that jives with your desires and priorities. Once you determine which style of fence you’d like to have, just double check all of your township’s ordinances, and triple check with any Home Owner’s Association documents. The very last thing you want to do is build a fence that’s not allowed!
